The Quiet Shuffling of Feet

The Quiet Shuffling of Feet is a feature length documentary that I co-directed, shot and edited. Working with Journalist and Producer Fergus Cooper, we created a detailed profile documentary about David Bolton, one of the world’s leading experts on post conflict trauma. David was the founding director of the Northern Ireland centre for Trauma and Transformation, and has spent his life helping people deal with the traumatic impact of the troubles. He has also been a tireless campaigner for better mental health provision in Northern Ireland, to help deal with the disproportionately high cases of mental illness and suicide experienced by people who have lived through conflict there.
This film takes an in depth look at David’s experiences of the troubles as he worked as a social worker across the country. By telling his story we uncover a shocking, and ignored legacy of trauma. In doing so we have opened important conversations between policy makers and communities about what can be done to better serve their needs.
